How it was composed

Dust on the boots, jasmine in the mix

A week in the village with a recorder and a harmonium set the palette: threshing rhythms, wedding-band brass heard from a mile off, and aunties who out-sang every demo singer.

The wedding song's chorus was kept from the very first location take — twenty voices around one microphone, joy no studio could rebuild. The score simply stays out of its way.
